Our members include Professional Members, who are professional dance teachers in the fields of ballroom, latin, country western, swing, theater arts and other similar types of partner or social dances, as well as many Supporter Members, who are persons and organizations interested in the promotion of excellence in dance or in supporting the art of dance generally. See our Members Directory for a list of our members in each category.

Who Can Join?

We welcome as members all professional dance instructors and all persons interested in the promotion of excellence in dance or in supporting the art of dance generally, and we invite you to join the NDTA in the appropriate membership category – either as a Professional Member or a Supporter Member.

Benefits of Membership

Among the many benefits of Membership in the NDTA, are the following:

  1. Examination & Official Certification. Professional Members can gain additional credentials through testing and certification by our National Dance Council recognized certified examiners. The National Dance Teachers Association of America (NDTA) is a member and approved Certifying Organization of the National Dance Council of America, the official governing council of dance and dancesport in the USA. We offer qualification examinations for certification in different levels and styles as well as traditional Medal Tests.

  2. Credentials. Members are welcome to make mention of their membership and certifications in any of their marketing materials which offers instant credibility for prospective clients.
  3. FREE Online Directory Listing to Advertise Your Services & Credentials. Members are entitled to a FREE listing in our online Members Directory on this site. The listing can include your picture, your contact information, your biography, your all-important certifications, and a link to your website (which can help drive traffic to your website and enhance your Google page ranking). This is a GREAT way to gain online exposure and advertise and promote your services and credentials! FREE with membership in the NDTA!
  4. Additional Advertising at Discounted Prices. Members have the additional option to place ads or listings on the Ads/ Listings page of this Website at discounted prices.
  5. A Voice in the NDCA. Members can have a voice in the rules and regulations of the NDCA as the NDTA is a voting member and sends delegates to the biannual NDCA meetings.
  6. NDTA Educational Materials Free or at a Discount. On the Members Only Resources page of this website, members have FREE access to materials from some of our NDTA Workshops and Seminars. In addition, in special cases, quantity purchase discounts may be arranged for bulk purchases by members of large quantities of certain educational dance syllabus materials and videos sold in our online Store. If you propose to make a bulk purchase of a large quantity of educational materials found in our online Store, you may e-mail Info@NationalDanceTeachers.org to find out if your proposed purchase may qualify for a special member “quantity purchase discount.”

  8. FREE Semi-Annual Educational Dance Seminars. Professional and Supporter Members may attend semi-annual educational dance seminars at no charge.

Categories of Membership – Professional Members and Supporter Members

Professional Members:

Professional Members are professional dance teachers in the fields of International Standard Ballroom, International Latin, American Smooth, American Rhythm, country western, swing, theater arts and other similar types of partner or social dances.

Professional Members are entitled to all of the Benefits of Membership summarized above, including participation in the official Examination and Professional Certification process, whereby Professional Members can apply for and take the required examinations to earn Degrees and Professional Certifications at different levels of proficiency, including Student Teacher, Associate, Masters, or Fellow, in Ballroom, Latin, Smooth, and/or Rhythm Dances, as well as Teacher Certifications for Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of all four styles of dance.

The National Dance Teachers Association of America (NDTA) is a member and approved Certifying Organization of the National Dance Council of America, the official governing council of dance and dancesport in the USA. As such, we offer the qualification examinations to earn professional certification in the different levels and styles of dance, as referenced above.

Professional Members can also arrange to have their students participate in our Medal Testing Program, whereby your students can take traditional Medal Tests to earn Medals of achievement at different levels of dance, including Intermediate Bronze, Full Bronze, Intermediate Silver, Full Silver, Intermediate Gold, Full Gold, and Gold Star. Students receive both scores and verbal or written critiques, to further their dance education.

To qualify as a Professional Member of NDTA, one must:

  • Be a dance teacher, actively engaged, on a full-time or part-time basis, in offering dance instruction to students for pay, in one or more of the areas of dance referenced above;
  • Apply for Professional Membership in NDTA by completing the Membership Application Form found on our website, including all of the parts marked, “Additional Fields Required Only for Applicants for Professional Membership,” and submitting with the Application all of the additional documentation required from candidates for Professional Membership;
  • Pay the applicable Membership Dues, which can be done easily online on our website via Credit Card or PayPal; and
  • Be Accepted into Professional Membership by the NDTA Membership Department and Board.

Professional Members should be able to dedicate enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization.

Supporter Members:

Supporter Members are persons and organizations interested in the promotion of excellence in dance or in supporting the art of dance generally. Our Constitution and Bylaws permit and welcome anyone interested in the promotion of excellence in dance or in supporting the art of dance to join NDTA as a Supporter Member.

To become a Supporter Member, simply:

  • Complete the first part of the Membership Application Form found on this website (no need to answer the questions pertaining to Professional Members or submit the documentation required from candidates for Professional Membership); and
  • Pay the applicable Membership Dues, which can be done easily online on our website via Credit Card or PayPal.

Supporter Members are entitled to all of the Benefits of Membership summarized above, other than participation in our official Examinations & Professional Certification Process.

Annual Dues

For Individual Members – $40.00 per Year

Dues for Individual Members (in either category – Professional or Supporter Membership) are $40.00 per year.

For a Couple – $60.00 per Year

Dues for a Couple (meaning dance partners or a married couple or couple in a committed long-term relationship) are $60.00 per Couple per year, in either of the Professional or Supporter Membership categories.

    For Professional Membership, documentation of any prior certifications may be included, and can easily be uploaded and submitted along with your online membership application form.

  2. Or, Print Out a Paper Application & Mail it to Us with Your Check

    If you prefer, you can DOWNLOAD AND PRINT OUT A PAPER NDTA MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM HERE (as a PDF document). Fill it out, and send it along with your check in the amount of your first year’s dues, and any available documentation of prior certifications (if applicable) to:

Easy Ways to Renew Your Membership Annually

Once you are a Member of NDTA, to remain a Member in Good Standing, you must pay your annual dues on or before January 1 of each year

We have now made it easy for you to renew your membership and pay your annual dues online via Credit Card or PayPay on the Renew Membership/ Pay Dues Here page of this website.

Just click on the applicable “PAY NOW” button on the Renew Membership/ Pay Dues Here page of this website, after you fill in your full name(s) in the blank provided. It is very easy and quick.
